IRS Stands For Indian Revenue Service. This Is The Fourth Most Respected Officer Post Of Civil Services After IAS, IPS, And IFS.It Has Two Units IRS( Customs And Central Excise)Service And IRS (Income Tax). These Units Are Controlled By Two Separate Bodies, i.e Central Board Of Direct Taxes (CBDT) And Central Board Of Excise And Customs (CBEC) Respectively. IRS Exam Is In Three Stages:

  • Main
  • Interview

*Education Qualification:
Any Degree From A Recognized University Is The Minimum Qualification Required To Appear The Exam.
Candidates Who Have Appeared For Final Year Exams Of Graduation And Waiting For The Result Can Also Apply To This Exam.

*Age Criteria:
Age Should Be Between 21-30 Years
5 Years of Age Relaxation for SC/ST and 3 Years of Age Relaxation for OBC
Upper Age Limit Relaxation Is Provided To Certain Candidates Who Are Backward With Respect To Other Factors and Physically Handicapped People

*Citizenship Criteria:
Candidates Who have The Citizenship Of India, Bhutan, Nepal Or Tibet Can Apply For IRS.

*Number of Attempts:
For General Category/ OBC Candidates:  6 Attempts
For OBC Candidates = 9 Attempts
For SC/ST Candidates = No Restrictions

About The IRS Exam:
The Preliminary Exam Consist Of two Papers. This Exam Is Just A Qualifying Exam. After That the Final Exam Is Held and that Candidate Who gets Qualified in the Preliminary Exam Are Supposed to Take the Final Exam. After This, The Final Stage Is Interview, To Test Their Personality & Mental Ability. A Rank List Is Prepared Based On The Performance In The Interview And Main Exam. Those Who Get Good Ranks Are Given Three Months Training To Become An IRS Officer.
