A guy from Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh made it crack UPSC’s civil service exam of 2013. His name is Abid Hussain Sadiq Bhat.
On asking what lured him to go for civil services, Abid replied that self-actualisation, job security, social recognition, functional autonomy, good career prospects and service to the society are the reasons for him to join services.
Education profile: – Abid Hussain Sadiq is computer engineer by profession and he worked with Jammu & Kashmir Bank before.
Preparation strategy for ABID HUSSAIN SADIQ
According to Abid, Coaching is like spoon feeding. It constricts your vision. Self-study helps in exploring hidden areas and develops confidence.
Optional subject and strategy:-
Abid has chosen Public administration as the optional subject. One needs to set up a
time table wherein daily, weekly and monthly targets are set and then study with focus and dedication to achieve these targets.


Abid Hussain Sadiq had got 501st  rank before in his previous attempt. 
“ I realized to serve people and I need to join civil services where you get a real opportunity to help them,” says Abid, who hails from Hyderpora area of the Srinagar.
First, Abid cracked KAS but his desire for further success left him restless. “In 2010, I cleared the UPSC exam and subsequently, I was allotted Indian Defense Accounts Service. But I didn’t join the service as it was not my ultimate destination and choice,” he said.
“I decided to work hard and appeared again in the examination this year, and by the grace of God and through the prayers of my family and relatives I have made it to the service,” he said.
Abid credits his family for his success and says “my role model is my late grandfather who was an IPS officer of the first batch of this state.”

The change Abid wants to make it in society as an administrator
He wants to try to bring in more transparency, responsiveness and accountability in the domain of functioning and try to improve the service delivery especially to the poor.
He gives credit of his success to the family saying they always encouraged him to pursue the dreams and sacrificed their joys for his happiness.
