WBJEE 2016 - West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination:



West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board is conducting WBJEE 2016 on May 17, 2016. Application form submission is available from January 5, 2016. Candidates who are eligible for Engineering or Medical (UG) admissions can apply online at wbjeeb.nic.in. Registered candidates will be issued admit cards for the exam. After the exam, board will release answer keys of WBJEE 2016 physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology papers. Admission and counselling will be on the basis of WBJEE 2016 result and merit list.

WBJEEB has announced the WBJEE 2016 exam date taking into consideration the Assembly General Elections, WBCHS exams, ISC exam, and CBSE datesheet.

  • WBCHS examination will be held from February 15 to February 29, 2016.
  • ICS examination will be held from February 9 to April 1, 2016.
  • CBSE examination will be held from March 2 to April 20, 2016.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. This board also holds exams such as JELET, JECA, JEHOM. Admission to Undergraduate courses in more than 15 medical colleges, 100 engineering colleges, 5 dental colleges and other offering MBBS, BDS, BE / B.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Arch is through the WBJEE exam.

Application form of WBJEE 2016 is available on the official website at wbjeeb.in, wbjeeb.nic.in. Detailed information bulletin containing guidelines for application form of WBJEE 2016 is made available by the board. Interested candidates can also apply for the exam in the online mode from the “Application Form” link mentioned above.


Candidates will be required to fill their personal details. After filling all details and successful submission, an Application number will be generated for the candidate’s future reference. During form filling, candidate is also required to choose a PASSWORD and a security question and answer. Candidate has to remember this question-answer pair for prompt retrieval of password in case it is forgotten at later stage.


In case of any critical error in date of birth, gender, reservation category, PwD status, TFW status, or in any uploaded document, a window period before issue of admit card will be allowed for the candidate to make corrections. No other data are allowed to be changed by the candidate.




WBJEE 2016 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

  • All questions asked in the exam will be MCQ type along with four options.
  • Candidates need to answer questions in OMR Answer Sheet by using  blue/black ball point pen only.

Question Paper Category Details

Marking Scheme for Question Category 1
  • Candidates need to make one correct answer.
  • One mark will be provided to every correct answer.
  • For every negative response, ¼ marks gets deducted.
Marking Scheme for Question Category 2
  • Candidates are required to mark only one right answer.
  • 2 marks will be provided for every correct response, whereas ½ marks gets deducted for negative response.
Marking Scheme for Question Category 3
  • Questions belonging to this category may have one or more than one answer is correct.
  • Candidates will be given 2 marks if they have marked all correct answers of a question.
  • In case your answer is partially correct then marks awarded = 2 X (no of correct options marked) / (total no of actually correct options).

WBJEE 2016 Eligibility Criteria:



Citizenship – Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Age limit – Restriction on age is identified for engineering and medical courses.
  • Engineering (other than Marine Engineering), Pharmacy and Architecture: Minimum age is 17 as on 31 December. There is no upper age limit.
  • Marine Engineering: Minimum age is 17, and maximum age is 25 as on 31 December.

  • Medical/Dental Courses: Minimum age is 17 as on 31 December. There is no upper age limit.

Domicile of West Bengal – The table below will best be able to explain the residential / domicile requirement of WBJEE.



Who is a West Bengal domicile?

The Domicile of West Bengal shall be treated for those candidates who are

  • Either residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 30th December;

  • Or whose parent(s) is / are permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having permanent address within the State of West Bengal.



WBJEE Admit Card 2016:



Almost two weeks before the exam, Admit card of WBJEE 2016 is released as per the schedule given above. Candidates who will submit the application form on time along with fees shall be able to download the WBJEE admit card / hall ticket 2016 by logging in to the candidate login page. The following credentials are expected to be needed to download the admit card.

  • Date of birth.

Information about the candidate such as name, roll number and details of the examination including date and time, exam hall (venue) will be printed in the hall ticket / call letter / test admission ticket.

WBJEE 2016 Answer Key

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) releases model answers of WBJEE usually around a week after the exam. Candidates can check the WBJEE answer key 2016 for biological sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry and know how many questions they have marked correctly. The purpose of releasing the answer keys is to let candidates know transparently about the marking process.

Immediately after the exam, several coaching centers will also publish the WBJEE 2016 answer key. There could be some differences between them, and the official answer key of WBJEE 2016. However it will be useful to analyze exam performance.

Results will be compiled by checking marks against the final official answer keys.
