How many entrance exams should a class 12 pass / appearing science student appear in?
An average student appears in 3-5 entrance exams after class 12. If you are ready to stretch the list, you can go for around 7-8 exams. There is no limit on the number of exams you can take, but factors such as days between two exams to give time for preparation has to be kept in mind.

JEE Main 2016:
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a common but the most sought after entrance examination conducted on all India basis for selection of candidates for various engineering courses. Candidates who clear JEE Main 2016 exam, get selected for admission in IIITs, NITs, CFTIs and private engineering colleges. JEE Main is conducted by CBSE.
The exam has one paper that a candidate can take either online or offline for admission in B.E./B.Tech. Candidates who wish to take admission in B.Arch or B.Planning, have only offline mode of exam for them. The difficulty level associated with the JEE Main ranges from moderate to tough.
JEE Main exam is conducted in the second week of April. Final date sheet for JEE Main 2016 is yet has been announced by CBSE. It has only one paper of three hour duration containing 90 questions (30 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).
Only online application is invited for JEE Main exam. Applicants for JEE Main will have to fill the online application form, which was available in November.

JEE Advanced 2016:
Candidates who clear JEE Main 2016 with top ranks, get selected for taking JEE Advanced 2016 conducted jointly by IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati.
JEE Advanced 2016 will be conducted on May 22, 2016. Candidates find this exam tough to crack. There will be two papers each of 3 hour duration. Candidates will have to answer a total of 60 questions (from PCM) in each paper. JEE Advanced takers will have to go for pencil and paper based test only.
JEE Advanced is the next level where there is competition among JEE Main toppers to pursue engineering courses from the country’s top engineering institutions like IITs, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), and the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad.
JEE Advanced 2016 Application Form submission process comprises two steps beginning with the online registration. The second step involves making application fee payment. Candidates will be able to fill application form of JEE Advanced.
Candidates can submit the JEE Advanced 2016 application form soon after the JEE Main 2016 result is announced by CBSE.

BITSAT 2016:
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is conducted by BITS Pilani on all India basis to select candidates for undergraduate courses in engineering and sciences. BITSAT aspirants will have to take only computer based test by selecting test slot as per their convenience. BITSAT is conducted in May. The submission process of BITSAT 2016 Application Form commences in December. The difficulty level of this exam is commonly perceived as moderate to tough. Shortlisted candidates are sent, based on their performance in the online entrance examination, either to Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad or Dubai campuses.

IPUCET 2016:
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducts the Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) across India for admission to various engineering courses. Engineering candidates need to take IPU CET exam to pursue B.Tech. course from the university. Candidates need to apply online in the prescribed format. The IPU CET Application Form is available from February and the exam is expected to be held in the month of May.
The exam comprises a single paper of two and half hour duration containing 150 multiple choice questions. Unlike JEE Main, the IPU CET exam is conducted offline wherein candidates are required to take the pen and paper mode of test. Approximately 85% seats in the engineering courses are reserved for Delhi candidates in Delhi colleges under GGSIPU. The difficulty level associated with the paper of IPU CET is easy to moderate.
There are many institutions and colleges that take candidates who have qualified in the IPU CET exam. Some such colleges are MAIT, VSIT, and NIEC.
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) is no longer a part of IPU. It is now popular as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW).

UPSEE 2016
Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) for admission to government aided institutions and private unaided institutions affiliated by UPTU and other state universities of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates take UPSEE to pursue undergraduate B.Tech. and B.Arch. degree courses from the UPTU. Only UP domicile candidates are eligible to take UPSEE. More than 78 colleges take admission through UPSEE and some top colleges are IET Lucknow, AKG Engineering College-Ghaziabad, and KIET-Ghaziabad.

Information brochure and application form for UPSEE 2016 is expected to be made available from the second week of March till the first week of April. Candidates can fill up the application form using either offline or online mode. Last year, the exam was conducted on April 19 and the date for this year examination is yet to be announced by the UPTU. The difficulty level of the exam can be put in the category of easy to moderate.

VITEEE 2016
Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2016 will be conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology or VIT University to shortlist candidates seeking admissions to various engineering undergraduate courses for session 2016-17.
VITEEE 2016 application form will be available from 27th November 2015. Candidates can apply using either online or offline mode of application. The last date for submission of application form is 29th February 2016. VITEEE 2016 aspirants would be required to take the computer based test scheduled to be held from April 6-17, 2016. The difficulty level of this exam is moderate to tough.
The exam would consist of a single paper of 125 multiple choice objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English. Selected candidates are offered admission in Vellore or Chennai campuses based on their performance in the VITEEE 2016 exam. Candidates with mathematics in class 10+2 are eligible for all the fourteen undergraduate engineering courses. However, candidates who have studied PCB (Biology) in class XII, are eligible for only B.Tech in Bio medical engineering and Biotechnology.

SRMEEE 2016
SRM Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted by SRM University to select candidates for B.Tech. courses at the university campus. Aspiring candidates will have to take the computer based test for admission to B.Tech. courses offered by the university for 2016-17 session. The online application process has started from the first week of November. Candidates can take the computer based test from April 19 to 25, 2016.
35 Questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are asked along with 50 questions from Biology. SRMEEE 2016 exam is a single paper test of 2.5 hours. The test paper is divided into four sections namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

TMISAT 2016:
Tolani Maritime Institute of Science Aptitude Test is conducted by Tolani Maritime Institute of Science for candidates dreaming of making career in BS Marine Engineering and BS Nautical Technology. The competition level is very high for this university level undergraduate examination. TMISAT aspirants are required to register themselves online to take the computer based test.
Application form will be available from the first week of January and the form submission will be closed by the last week of May. TMISAT exam consists of one paper of two hours containing 100 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Math, English and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. Only unmarried candidates are eligible to apply for TMISAT. Applicants need to be less than 21 years in age on September 1 of the admission year. Female candidates are given relaxation of two years in terms of age eligibility.
TMISAT 2016 is expected to be held in the first half of June.
Medical test is mandatory for all applicants of TMISAT 2016.
MUOET 2016:
Manipal University conducts Online Entrance Test is known as MUOET. The exam is conducted on all India basis for selection of candidates looking to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. Engineering candidates aspiring to take MUOET 2016 will be firstly required to get themselves registered on the official website of MU. The next step involves filling in the online MU OET 2016 application form and submission of the same via online mode. B.Tech. aspirants can submit the filled in MUOET application form, book their test slot and get the admit card as per schedule.
Candidates interested in doing B.Tech. courses must note that subjects required for this program are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, English & General Aptitude. Having booked the test slot, candidates will be taking the computer based test of two and a half hours duration. There would be 200 multiple choice questions. Engineering programmes are offered only at Dubai campus of MU. Other campuses of the university are located in Mangalore and Bangalore (India) and one more off-shore campus in Melaka (Malaysia).
MUOET 2016 exam is slated to be conducted from April 14 to May 18, 2016. The difficulty level of this exam is better defined if stretched between easy to moderate.
LPUNEST:
Lovely Professional University (LPU) conducts this National Eligibility and Scholarship Test (NEST) for admission to engineering, management and 150+ programmes at the university. Schools or students desirous of taking LPUNEST are required to register first. The exam was started in 2014 and as per the official record, more than 3 lakh students took the exam last year.
LPUNEST comprises of a single paper of 90 minutes containing 60 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates will have to take the pencil-paper test of one and half hour at the university campus. Candidates will be required to answer all 60 multiple choice objective type questions which are set to assess them in terms of memory power, comprehension ability, and reasoning & analytical ability of candidates.
